What works in a stairwell
A stairwell is tall and narrow, so the chandelier should be vertical: a cascade of crystal or glass, a cluster of pendants at different heights, or a multi-tier design. It should fill the height of the space and be visible from the ground floor and from the landing.
How to measure
- Drop: measure from the ceiling to the first-floor landing. The chandelier can occupy up to two-thirds of this height.
- Clearance: keep at least 2.1 m between the bottom of the chandelier and the stairs or floor below it.
- Width: leave at least 30–40 cm between the chandelier and the walls or railings so it can be cleaned and does not look cramped.

Installation and maintenance
Stairwell chandeliers are heavy and hang high, so plan a strong ceiling anchor and access for installation and cleaning. A motorised chandelier lift is a good option for very high ceilings. We recommend a qualified electrician; ask us for the weight of your model.

Yes. Send us the height from ceiling to landing and the width of the stairwell, and we will suggest a size or make the chandelier to measure.
How do I clean a high stairwell chandelier?
Use a ladder or scaffolding once or twice a year, or install a chandelier lift. Between cleanings, a long feather duster is enough.
