How to choose a chandelier size for a high ceiling
A simple rule works for most rooms: add the length and width of the room in metres and multiply by 10. The result is a good chandelier diameter in centimetres. A 6 × 5 m living room needs a chandelier of about 110 cm; a 7 × 7 m foyer, about 140 cm. If you measure in feet, add length and width in feet to get the diameter in inches.
For the height of the fixture, allow about 20–25% of the ceiling height. Under a 6 m (20 ft) ceiling, a chandelier 120–150 cm tall looks in proportion. In very tall rooms or in front of a large window, go one size up: big spaces make lights look smaller than they are.
Foyer and stairwell chandeliers
In a two-storey entrance hall the chandelier is the first thing guests see. Keep the bottom of the fixture at least 2.1 m (7 ft) above the floor. In a stairwell, centre it in the stair void so it can be seen from both floors. Long multi-tier and cascade designs suit stairwells; wide, round forms suit square foyers.
Chandeliers for vaulted and double-height living rooms
Under a sloped or vaulted ceiling, choose a chandelier with an adjustable drop so it hangs level and at the right height. In open-plan rooms, one large fixture over the seating area works better than several small ones. Over a dining table, hang the bottom 75–90 cm above the tabletop and choose a width of about half to two-thirds of the table.

Frequently asked questions
What size chandelier do I need for a 6 m (20 ft) ceiling?
For a room of average width, a diameter of 100–150 cm and a height of 120–150 cm usually looks right. Send us the room dimensions and we will check the proportions for you.
How high should a chandelier hang in a two-storey foyer?
Keep at least 2.1 m (7 ft) between the floor and the bottom of the chandelier. If there is a window above the front door, centre the fixture in the window so it can be seen from outside.
Can you make a chandelier in a custom size?
Yes. Many models can be made in other sizes, finishes or with a different number of lights. Send us the model and the size you need, and we will prepare a quote.
Will the chandelier work with the voltage in my country?
Tell us your country when you order, and we will confirm the voltage, plug and bulb type before production.
How are large chandeliers shipped?
We ship worldwide. Large fixtures are packed for heavy freight. Delivery time and cost depend on the size and destination, so we confirm them before you pay.
